Clip from Course, Writer’s Workshop
If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar
A hoper, a prayer, a magic bean buyer
If you are a pretender come sit by my fire
“If you are a dreamer come in.” -Shel Silverstein
Have you ever wondered how Shel Silverstein was inspired to write? His cartoons, poems, lyrics, and music have delighted audiences of all ages for several decades. Creativity like that could be emerging in your students and a Writer’s Workshop could provide the perfect environment to cultivate young writers!
This course is designed to help teachers improve their students’ writing skills by creating an effective Writer’s Workshop environment in the classroom. Implementing a Writer’s Workshop block of time will allow your students to explore different styles of writing, learn how to read critically, and become highly engaged in their own writing projects. Teachers will learn specific strategies to help develop writing skills, create tools to support the workshop activities, and design their own custom Writer’s Workshop. Discover a new passion for writing, teaching writing, and watching your students grow as writers!
So here is your invitation:
If you are a teacher come in
If you are a teacher with students you admire
A manager, helper, a school supply-buyer
If you are an educator come sit by my fire
For we have some flax golden tales to spin! Come in! Come in!
