Professional Learning Objectives

1. Given course text and specific guided instruction, learners will complete a choice writing piece, including response and reflection on creating the best conditions for students to excel in writing, with 100% completion.
2. Given course text and specific guided instruction, learners will plan and design the structure of a Writer’s Workshop, including scheduling block time, use of physical space and creating a positive work environment for students to excel, with 100% completion.
3. Given course text and specific guided instruction, learners will use mentor texts to create and submit a document containing three (3) targeted writing skills, and an explanation of how the activities will develop the skills with 100% accuracy.
4. Given course text and specific guided instruction, learners will view, then complete analysis questions of the variety of factors that inspire successful, published authors with 100% accuracy.
5. Given course text and specific guided instruction, learners will research their choice of a successful, published author, explore additional factors used to inspire writing and complete analysis questions with 100% accuracy.
6. Given course text and specific guided instruction, learners will create three (3) custom mini-lessons to teach the writing process: pre-write, draft, revise, edit and publish with 100% completion.
7. Given course text and specific guided instruction, learners will view and analyze other teaching professionals’ use of conferencing strategies to support and develop student writing skills, then complete analysis questions with 100% completion.
8. Given course text and specific guided instruction, learners will respond to questions regarding effective use of tools for the Writer’s Workshop with 100% accuracy.
9. Given course text and specific guided instruction, learners will create (3) skills-based writing activities and complete an Activity Grid, filled with skills-based activities with 100% completion.
