Professional Development Units for Oregon Teachers

In Oregon, educators must complete a specific number of Professional Development Units (PDUs) to renew various teaching, administrative, and student service licenses. The number of required PDUs varies based on the license type. For example, most professional teaching licenses require 125 PDUs every five years. PDUs can be earned through coursework, workshops, and other educational activities approved by the Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC).

One PDU equals one hour of professional development. To maintain licensure, educators must submit documentation such as PDU Certificates, PEER forms from employers, or official transcripts.
