We are pleased to announce that The Teachers Academy was featured in Education Technology Insights for August 2021. Maggie Haflett and Julie Woosnam, founders of The Teachers Academy, were proud to discuss their mission to provide professional development initiatives for educators.
With its humble beginnings in Furlong, PA, The Teachers Academy has now grown to provide professional development opportunities to 22 other states. As the company has expanded, Ms. Woosnam’s and Ms. Haflett’s mission has expanded to include a multitude of courses intended to provide teachers with the skills necessary to handle the ever-changing complexities of our educational systems.
A Multi-Faceted Approach to Learning
The Teachers Academy tackles a broad range of topics to provide teachers with the tools needed to be successful in and out of the classroom. Courses are designed to be flexible, offering teachers the ability to learn at their own pace rather than being confined to a set schedule. Objectives are clearly established prior to any course being taken, and programs are available online to further accommodate educators. All applicable resources are included with the courses allowing teachers to successfully incorporate their new skills into curriculums.
A Comprehensive Strategy for Skill Development
Course availability covers both elementary and secondary learning. This broad approach to professional development provides a robust foundation for educators to draw from for their own initiatives. Teacher plans and classroom activities can be directly sent to staff at The Teachers Academy for evaluation during courses. Feedback is then provided to enable participants to make the necessary adjustments for the successful completion of the program. Educators are also asked to provide their own input before certification of completion is received.
A Refreshing Change to Professional Development
In an example from the feature, a retired teacher in Pennsylvania is highlighted as rapidly progressing through a course after initial hesitation. After receiving guidance from The Teachers Academy staff, the educator successfully completed his initial course and has subsequently enrolled in additional opportunities for mindfulness professional development.
The Teachers Academy: Promoting Teacher-Centric Initiatives for the Modern Educator
The Teachers Academy has shown a steadfast commitment to providing professional development courses that help teachers enhance their abilities in and out of the educational environment. The Teachers Academy has been accredited in most states and has the authority to issue a multitude of credits. New programs are being constantly developed, including cultural diversity and English language initiatives. To see the full article on Education Technology Insights, click here.
