CTLE Hours Requirements for New York Teachers
To maintain a Professional Teacher Certificate, Educational Leader Certificate, or Teaching Assistant Level III Certificate in New York, teachers must complete 100 CTLE hours if they were active during the entire registration period. If a teacher had inactive periods, they must complete 20 CTLE hours for each year they were actively teaching in an applicable school. For teachers who originally held a Permanent certificate and later obtained a Professional certificate, the same 20-hour requirement applies for each year they practiced under the Professional or Teaching Assistant Level III certificate.
