Maine educators can renew their certificate if it has been expired for less than six months. If it’s been longer, a new credential application must be submitted through the Maine Department of Education.
A new Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) is required for every renewal. Teachers in public schools will work with a Support Chair, who recommends them for renewal and may require additional documentation.
