The Teacher’s Academy complies with the ANSI/IACET Standard, which is recognized internationally as a standard of excellence in instructional practices. Professional Development Requirements for Kentucky Teachers
To renew a Kentucky teaching certificate, educators must meet renewal requirements within the five-year validity period of their license. Renewal is managed through the Kentucky Educator Credentialing System (KECS) on the Kentucky Department of Education website.
Eligibility for renewal generally requires meeting one of the following:
- Completion of three (3) years of classroom teaching during the five-year certificate period
OR
- Completion of six (6) semester hours of graduate-level coursework or approved professional development
Specific renewal requirements may vary depending on an educator’s certificate rank and whether renewal is completed through the standard renewal pathway or the Continuing Education Option (CEO).
