New Course: AI in ED (Artificial Intelligence in Education)
Can you recognize AI?
AI is here to stay. Instead of avoiding the inevitable technological invasion, we must do our best to learn, understand and then teach our youth. The responsibility of the 21st century teacher is to put aside fear and judgment (both relevant emotions) for the sake of what is best for a future. If used appropriately, AI can serve humankind in many positive ways, like: improving medical procedures, therapies, finding cures for all types of diseases, reducing the prison population, solving homelessness and food insecurity for millions of people. Even the experts in the field of artificial intelligence are excited about how AI could evolve to support a healthy human way of life, as long as we are responsible in our application of this incredible power. First, we must be able to recognize AI. Think you can? Check out the pictures below. One is real and one has been created by AI.
Choose which one you think is real and check below for the correct answer…

In the battle between teachers and plagiarism: Point, Plagiarism. In response, Edward Tian, from Princeton University developed a free GPT checker called, GPT zero. The response from educators, university admissions offices, and more has been overwhelming. Tian explains the need for a tool like this. He says,
“In a world where AI text generation technology is rampant, we need to build the safeguards so that these technologies are adopted responsibly. This means knowing when and where AI is being applied — not to prevent ChatGPT from being used, but to prevent AI from being abused by bad actors — think bots, misinformation, election interference campaigns, trust and safety violations, differential access to generative AI among low-income students, fake news, and articles being misrepresented as human. -Mok”
In this section, you will hone your AI skills by attempting to distinguish between authentically generated work and work created by artificial intelligence. You will explore ways teachers and students are using AI and explore potential AI detectors for the classroom.
