Professional development does not have to be expensive, inconvenient or irrelevant. According to the Teacher Standards and Practice Commission of Oregon, teachers must complete 75 PDUs every 3 years or 125 PDUs every 5 years (after 2015) and “Teachers do not have to complete college coursework to earn PDU credit.” The Teacher’s Academy is the best solution for professional development for Oregon teachers. We are a company created by teachers for teachers so we understand how difficult it can be to find time to maintain or renew our professional licenses. We have created a simple, quick and effective way for teachers across the nation to maintain their professional licenses, without spending a fortune or wasting time outside of the classroom. We are pleased to offer our services to the amazing teachers of Oregon!
The average cost of our courses is $79 for 15 “seat” hours or 15 Professional Development Units (PDUs). There are no tuition fees, no extra fees for materials and certainly no administrative fees. No colleges can compete with our prices because of the cost of the overhead. (A brick and mortar place of education, books and college professors’ salaries drive the costs through the roof.) When you purchase a course through our website, you immediately receive the course text and all necessary materials in your inbox. The courses available through The Teacher’s Academy range from 3 PDUs for $24.99 to 18 PDUs for $89.99.
Since the courses are emailed directly to your email address, you can work wherever you want and at your own pace. Our process is simple! First create an account with The Teacher’s Academy (your information is always private and never shared). Next, browse the courses and choose one that looks interesting by adding it to your cart. As soon as you use our secure checkout, the course materials will be sent to your email, immediately. Once you have completed the projects assigned to the course you’ve chosen, upload them to our email for review. Within a few business days you will receive 2 official certifications, listing the course hours to be applied to your professional account. One certification is for your records and the other is for your administrator. You have the benefit of keeping the course, the resources and all of the materials to refer back to when necessary!
The courses offered by The Teacher’s Academy are written by certified teachers with the goal of improving student learning. We research the latest teaching strategies and effective techniques to enhance the learning experience for you and ultimately, your students. All courses incorporate the Common Core and state standards to make things easier for you. The projects in our courses vary from assessments to creating lesson plans and are designed to be implemented in the classroom! For example, the projects in our MS Office for Educators course include creating a test, a parent letter with a mail-merge and an award certificate for your amazing students. You will learn many of the functions of Word but more importantly, how the tool can be used effectively in the classroom.
In our Internet Research, Cyber Safety and Social Media course, a step- by-step format walks teachers through the process of creating their own EduBlog and Wikispace. Other projects in this course include a mini lesson plan on plagiarism and web site reviews (great for middle and high school students). This is an in-depth course that clarifies Internet protocol and prepares teachers to teach their students about surfing the web safely.
The Teacher’s Academy encourages teachers to take courses outside of their own professional track to address interests and curiosity. We offer Nutrition 101, Rock History, Computer Basics and Website Review courses that are quite relevant to the 21st century classrooms. There are over 30 courses to choose from, so get started today!
