A breath of fresh air!

I was walking with a few teacher-friends before school one morning, listening to the typical banter, stories, and antics of our lives when Laura looked over and said to me, “You’re pretty quiet this morning, what’s up?” I was, indeed, quieter than usual and lost in thought about my day ahead.

“I have one of those lecture-heavy lessons planned for today that just… takes it out of you- you know?” They knew. Like all good teacher-friends do, they went into problem-solving mode. 

“Use the jigsaw.” (Can’t. Too time consuming for today.)

“Pair and share the information.” (Can’t. Too complicated, lots of new material and diagrams.)

“Take them outside.” (Can’t. I need the projector for visuals.)

It was early, around 5:45 am. The birds were already singing and the sunlight had barely started to break through. It was the first day in many months we didn’t need hats and gloves on our morning walk and the forecast promised one of those open-your-windows kind of days. I let that last idea fester a bit. Could I take them outside?  Yes. I can. A few color prints later and we took our learning offline and into the sunshine.
