Online Professional Development for Illinois Educators
Professional Development Hours for Illinois Teachers

In Illinois, teachers are required to complete 120 hours of professional development (PD) every five years to maintain an active Professional Educator License (PEL). These hours must be earned through ISBE-approved providers or through a combination of approved activities such as coursework, National Board Certification, and other state-recognized programs.
Important: If you do not fulfill the PD requirements within the five-year renewal period, your teaching certificate will lapse, and you will need to apply for reinstatement through the State Superintendent of Education.
Benefits of Our Courses:
- Affordable: Teachers can earn all 120 hours of professional development required to renew their license for less than the cost of a single college course.
- Convenient: Our self-paced online courses are emailed immediately after purchase and can be downloaded to any computer, allowing teachers to complete their courses on their schedule.
